Features:

RockJock's completely bolt-on Modular Extreme Tie Rod is commonly referred to as our “2 1/2 Ton” tie rod. It is adjustable to fit a center of tapered hole to center of tapered hole dimensions from 57 1/2" to 60 1/2". Features include a massive 1 5/8” diameter 4130 chromoly heat treated tube, 1 1/4" RH / LH thread forged steel rod ends, 1 ton taper removable rod end cartridges (that may be used in standard or reversed orientation) and premium jam nuts. Components are powder coated semi-gloss black so they are ready for install right out of the box!
Most commonly in applications that require this heavy of a tie rod, you’ll be looking for a Ram Assist steering bracket. We offer an easy to install bracket for this tie rod under our part number JK-9703RM.
Should you be intending to stay with a steering stabilizer shock, we also offer a heavy duty U-bolt style steering stabilizer shock mounting bracket to allow you to easily reinstall a factory stabilizer shock or an upgraded shock such as our CE-9170SD1 Rancho RS5000 stabilizer shock (this shock will not be a bolt-on solution (at the differential end) in all applications).

Our Removable Cartridges Rod End design offers many advantages:
The ability to be replaced independently of the forged rod end, saving cost
A spare can easily be carried in the vehicle for trail repairs (carry our JK-9703W wrench with you as well!)
If a cartridge end is removed and replaced, the vehicle does not have to be realigned, because the tie rod length adjustment was not compromised
Cartridges may be easily removed from the rod end forgings and inserted from the top or the bottom, depending upon your mounting preference, and simply tightened back down

Component Specs.:
Tie Rod Tube = 1 5/8” dia. 4130 heat treated chromoly
Tie Rod End Forgings = 1 1/4”-12 RH/LH threads, forged steel
Rod End Cartridges = 1 ton taper on the pin, 1 3/4"-12 threads on the O.D. and 9/16”-18 threads on the pin

The universal nature of this tie rod allows it to be used in various applications, granted the dimensions suite. You may simply replace the cartridges with a cartridge of a different taper to suite other applications. See our additional cartridge offerings here
If you intend to flip the Rod End Cartridges from top to bottom, etc., keep in mind that your knuckle holes are only tapered from one direction. Mounting the tie rod on the opposite side of the knuckle than the knuckle intends will require the tapered holes to be retapered from the other direction
Wrench flats on the tube requires a 1 1/2" wrench, jam nuts require a 1 7/8” wrench
Rod end cartridges require our JK-9703W wrench or a 2” wrench or impact socket
Being that this a universal product, you will need to cycle your suspension before use to ensure that the rod ends to not bottom out upon extreme articulation. You do not you’re your steering rod ends to be your down travel stops! Not being mindful of these limitations will cause damage and premature wear to the components that is NOT covered under warranty!
You must grease all rod ends via their zerk fittings before use
Grease unit with non-synthetic, hi-moly lube grease, such as our CE-9013G
We offer an easy to install Ram Assist bracket for this tie rod under our part number JK-9703RM
Our JK-9703SB Steering Stabilizer Shock Bracket Kit will bolt to this tie rod and may be used with many stock stabilizer shocks, an upgraded CE-9170SD1 Rancho RS5000 stabilizer shock and likely many other aftermarket shocks
