Leaked Photos Suggest the New Look of the Grand Wagoneer

Jeep Parts - Just Jeeps

The new next-generation Jeep Wrangler is expected in the market in 2018. What has people talking is the possible release of the Grand Wagoneer. This is a model that was discontinued in 1991 when the platform was stopped. The leaked photos are blurry as they were snapped at a presentation using a smartphone by an attendee in a recent dealer event. The photos have the fans of Grand Wagoneer excited and eagerly waiting for the debut of the next generation model which is predicted to be launched no sooner than 2019.

In the leaked photos, slides appear to show lineup from Renegade through the Wrangler, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and the new Grand Wagoneer. In the lineup, the first and the last vehicles draw the most attention. The reason for this is because neither of those two vehicles have been revealed officially. However, there are patented drawings of the Grand Wagoneer that have been making headlines among the fans.

Leaked Photos

Even though some people may dismiss the leaked photos as fake, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler may prove them wrong. This is because the 2018 Jeep Wrangler looks pretty close to what was seen in the leaked spy photos. In general, the design of the SUV will not change much. It will come with large, round headlights at the sides of a grille that is tall with seven-slots. The model differs in that it has LED light strips which run the wide front fender. This is a design that has been carried by Grand Cherokee. On the back, the spare tire is still affixed to the Jeep’s swinging door. There are rectangular taillights with subtle ‘X’ shape in them. This pays homage to rear lighting on the Renegade.

Next-Gen Jeep Wrangler

The next generation Jeep Wrangler will be known as the ‘JL’ generation internally. Production of the new model begins in Ohio early in 2017. The main changes will include a lightweight construction with some of its components being made from aluminum. The Wrangler’s dated 5-speed automatic will be moved to the 8-speed unit. There is also a potential of having both the hybrid and diesel powertrains later on.

The Grand Wagoneer

The Grand Wagoneer, which is expected to be released in 2019, is an upgrade from Grand Cherokee. This is more so when you consider the stance and the size. Its face is wider with a prominent chrome-trimmed grille and all LED headlights and taillights. The rear will have a tall and boxy design with twin exhausts which will be tucked low in the rear fascia. Although the leaked photos don’t reveal much, they show that the new model will be a more mature Grand Cherokee.

The Grand Wagoneer will attract a six-figure price tag. CEO Mike Manley says the new Grand Wagoneer will have a price tag of between $130,000 and $140,000. The new model may even be launched in 2018 but it will be a 2019 model. Jeep is also thinking of releasing a cheaper and a premium Grand Wagoneer. Only time will tell.
