Jeeps and alternative fuel sources

Jeep Toronto - Just Jeeps

Alternative fuel sources for your Jeep? If you are an eco-warrior, there are ways to make your vehicle far friendlier to the environment. Bear in mind, to do this you will have to change a host of Jeep parts, but you will have pleasure in the knowledge that your prized vehicle is helping Mother Nature.

What are my options?

There are a range of alternative fuel sources available for your Jeep, but in this article, we will be looking specifically at two unique and very different options. They are electric motors and LPG gas. Not only will these decrease fuel consumption significantly, but they are also far kinder to the environment.

Electric motors

Although electric motors used to be severely underpowered, this is no longer the case. In fact, many produce the same amount of horsepower as their petrol driven counterparts while increasing the torque available. Installing this unique Jeep part, however, is not cheap and will require the motor itself as well as the batteries to drive it along with a host of other necessary pieces to complete the conversion from petrol to electric power. Once installed the savings begin, so in the long run, it is well worth it. Another factor to bear in mind if going this route is vehicle range. Unfortunately, the electric motor will only get you around 40 miles before it needs to be recharged. If this is a problem, consider a hybrid engine that includes a small petrol motor that can help to increase range.

LPG

The other alternative fuel source for your Jeep is LPG gas. Again, some cost will be involved changing a number of Jeep parts for the conversion. After installation, it will take around about a year to recoup those costs and start seeing savings, but should you plan to keep your Jeep for an extended period it is well worth it. Once installed, the system offers the same engine performance levels as would a regular petrol motor. LPG gas engines are far cleaner as the gas itself leaves almost no deposit after combustion. In fact, the life of your Jeeps engine will be extended. The last point to bear in mind when deciding on this conversion is the availability of filling stations in your area that stock LPG gas. In many cases, although your miles per gallon will drop by using LPG gas, the fact that it costs so much less than petrol saves a significant portion of money.

Off-roading?

So will these new Jeep parts affect the off-roading capabilities of your vehicle? No! Your Jeep will remain more than capable of performing out on the dirt trails. In fact, as mentioned earlier, an electric engine can even increase the torque of your vehicle.

These conversions not only save money but seriously help to shrink your carbon footprint, a nice thought for outdoor lovers.
