Is the New Grand Wagoneer in the Market?

Jeep Parts - Just Jeeps

Since the discontinuation of the Grand Wagoneer platform in 1991, Jeep enthusiasts have been looking forward to the day this impressive SUV would be reintroduced. There are rumors and even proof thanks to the new patent drawings which suggest the dream of having the Grand Wagoneer back might be sooner than most people thought. All in all, you should note that the future of this model is still murky. There are no official launch dates that have been set and the details regarding the Grand Wagoneer are nothing but scanty. All that fans can do is predict what the new vehicle might be.

The patent drawings show the different angles of a broad-sided, 3-row Jeep which indicates the brand may be producing the vehicle soon. These drawings came just after the introduction of the Yuntu concept at the Auto Shanghai. The Yuntu previewed a possible hybrid powered 7 passenger SUV which is rumored to be in the production line very soon.

The Grand Wagoneer

Not to burst bubbles but the sketches of the Grand Wagoneer are still sketchy with no details being given. Currently, engineering problems are what have kept the Grand Wagoneer out of production. Even so, Jeep plans on moving forward with the project. The vehicle is expected to be launched most likely in 2019. According to Mike Manley, CEO, the price tag may be somewhere between $130,000 and $140,000. The company may also provide lower trim Wagoneer as well as an expensive premium Grand Wagoneer. Only time will tell.

If the new patented drawings of the Grand Wagoneer in fact show the production version of the Yuntu concept, then the model may be built for specific markets. There is a chance it will be limited to such markets like China exclusively. A local GAC-Fiat joint venture may see the production of the SUV and this may also lead to the production of the Chrysler-badged version which will be built for the Canada and U.S. markets.

Grand Wagoneer On The Internet

All in all, the images of the new Grand Wagoneer which have been making rounds on the Internet do look very promising. They are not only looking good but they are also production ready. If the Jeep is at all produced, you should not expect to see a 3-row Jeep until 2019, the earliest. This is provided there will be no major setbacks.

If you haven’t yet seen the sketches, a simple Google search will give you an appropriate link for the images. You should, however, be wary of fake drawings. When you take a look at renderings, you may notice that the design looks much similar to the photo that was leaked from the dealer presentation in October of 2016.

Whatever might be the case, you will learn more about the debut of the Grand Wagoneer as times goes by. By 2019, information on the future of this project will not be as scanty. All that you can do is to sit back and wait. Nobody knows exactly what the new Jeep will look like apart from the select few who are or might be working on the project.
